It’s a leading cause of infertility and one of the most common female hormonal disorders. Women with PCOS tend to have enlarged ovaries that contain many small cysts, resulting in irregular menstrual cycles and hormone imbalances that may contribute to weight gain, acne, and infertility.
Additionally, women who have been diagnosed with PCOS are also at increased risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, insulin resistance, and high cholesterol levels.

I had my first pregnancy at the age of 33 years after many years of suffering from PCOS. I had to make some lifestyle choices to have a healthy pregnancy. You have to take an active role in healing from PCOS, starting by making healthy lifestyle choices that will help restore ovulation. Take steps to lower stress levels, eliminate alcohol consumption, eat a balanced diet, and exercise regularly.
#1: Confirm your PCOS Diagnosis
How do you know you have PCOS? I know you see this tip and probably rolled your eyes. But the truth is it’s easy to self-diagnose out of frustration. PCOS can sometimes be a catch-all diagnosis for all unexplained infertility so you must take the necessary steps, talk with your physician to get a proper diagnosis. Keep a record of your symptoms, the frequency of those symptoms, and share them with your health care provider. You can expect to do some blood work and ultrasound to get a proper diagnosis. When trying to determine if a woman has PCOS, doctors will ask her about her menstrual cycle and perform several blood tests. The patient must have two out of three characteristics for at least one year to be diagnosed with PCOS: oligo-ovulation (fewer than nine periods per year), hyperandrogenism (high levels of male hormones), and polycystic ovaries on ultrasound.

As I mentioned you have to take an active role in reversing PCOS. You cannot simply keep doing the same things and expect a different outcome. Especially when trying to get pregnant after 30, you have to make some adjustments to your lifestyle. Many things will need to be monitored, and setting actionable steps to accomplish your ultimate goal of pregnancy is important.
The truth is that you cannot control whether you get pregnant, however, you can control all the actions you need to take to make the likelihood of getting pregnant possible.
Here are all the habits that you want to develop and improve.
- Track your exercise habit

Habit tracking can increase your chances of getting pregnant by helping you identify potential areas for improvement. It will also help you gain perspective on how various behaviors are affecting other areas of your life. For example, it’s easy (and tempting) to assume that just because you exercised today, that means that you can overindulge in other behaviors like eating that extra slice of cake (high sugar intake); but tracking specific behaviors can help keep those kinds of harmful assumptions at bay.
A healthy lifestyle isn’t all or nothing; it’s a combination of exercise and diet as well as emotional coping mechanisms and more.

If done right, breathing exercises also increase blood flow and circulation, which improves egg fertilization. Start by sitting comfortably in a quiet place and observing your breath. Close your eyes if that helps you relax. Slowly breathe in through your nose for three seconds, hold for one second, then exhale through your mouth for four seconds. You should notice your belly expand on inhalation and contract on exhalation.
Controlling negative thoughts: Studies have shown that women with PCOS who thought positively about themselves—what psychologists call positive cognitive distortions—had increased chances of getting pregnant than those who didn’t Think positively!
